Emma's cat Koko came home with us on the first day of school, September 2002. He was half Maine Coon Cat and (almost) all black. He was the perfect Halloween cat!

Can you pick Koko out in the lineup?

Mark: My office is in the basement and part of my ceiling is unfinished. One day I heard Koko calling and looked up. There he was between the floor joists and a heating duct. He'd climbed a bookcase half way across the house, found a hole in the ceiling there, and followed the sound of my music. I lifted him down, but he was back up there in a few minutes. Koko was a climber and an adventurer.

His very first time outside, Koko discovered climbing. He always tried to find the tallest tree and climb to the top.

Koko developed into a fierce hunter. We will probably have a lot more chipmunks, red squirrels, bunnies, mice, shrews, moles, cardinals, finches, and other creatures in our yard next summer! 1stout (27K)

We'd come out the back door often and hear a greeting from right over our heads!

Mark: Koko liked to ride on my shoulders. When he was a kitten, he'd just site on a shoulder. When he got bigger, he'd climb up and drape himself around my neck like a shawl. He could keep an eye on what I was doing that way.

Koko was with us for too short a time. He was a loving, tolerant, smart, and outgoing companion.

We lost Koko to Feline Infectious Peritonitis. He grew for 18 months and then withered for three. He bore it all bravely. He never complained until the very end when he simply, politely told us, "it's time".
